Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy has praised Marc Cucurella and believes the Spain international has got a “nice all round game.”
The Blues have made a good start to the season, although they are in the midst of a difficult run and are now five games without a win following Tuesday night’s draw against Bournemouth.
That run has seen Chelsea drop to fifth in the table, a point behind Newcastle in fourth and they are now in a real battle to qualify for the Champions League.
Despite the current struggles Maresca has done a good job and Chelsea now have a clear style of play and an identity, two things which were lacking last season.
Maresca has also improved a number of players with Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez and Nicolas Jackson all falling into that category.

Cucurella also falls into that category and has arguably been one of Chelsea’s best performers this season, with the Spaniard crucial to how the Blues play.
The 26-year-old has had some transformation after almost leaving the club in the summer of 2023 and he’s now one of Chelsea’s most important players.
Troy Deeney admitted he was surprised at just how good Cucurella was and Murphy believes he’s got a really nice all round game.
“He’s really good,” he told talkSPORT as cited on X.com.
“He’s super fit, so he gets up and down all day. Technically very good. He likes defending; not all full-backs do. His end product is good. He’s got a nice all-round game.”

Cucurella has made 19 appearances in the Premier League this season, with 17 coming as starts, with his only goal coming against Brentford.
The former Brighton man will likely find himself in the starting line-up once again on Monday night as Chelsea host Wolves at Stamford Bridge in a game that is now must win given their current run of form.
