The DFB have announced that Eintracht Frankfurt defender Robin Koch has withdrawn from the squad ahead of the October international break.

Koch is struggling with hip problems which he is said to have been dealing with for a while and it has finally got the better of him after Frankfurt’s 3-3 draw with Bayern Munich on Sunday afternoon.

Instead of nominating a defender, head coach Julian Nagelsmann has called up Brentford winger Kevin Schade. The 22-year-old last played for Germany in March 2023 when he played in Germany’s 4-1 loss to Japan.

This is the third player to pull out of the Germany squad ahead of this international break. Jamal Musiala and Kai Havertz also pulled out of the squad over the weekend and Nagelsmann called up Jamie Leweling and Jonathan Burkardt to the squad for the first time.

Germany’s first game of the break is against Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo on Friday before next Monday they host the Netherlands in Munich.
