Milan duo Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori have landed in hot water after their insubordination surrounding a penalty during the team’s recent 2-1 loss to Fiorentina, and both are at risk of being benched for the visit from Udinese after the international break, according to Friday’s reports.

Rossoneri coach Paulo Fonseca was reportedly left furious after the pair intervened at the penalty spot against Fiorentina, taking the kick away from the club’s designated penalty taker Christian Pulisic.

Milan missed two penalties against Fiorentina. Theo Hernandez and Abraham’s spot-kicks were both saved by David De Gea.

Tomori picked up the ball immediately after the second penalty was awarded, and handed it over to his close friend and former Chelsea academy teammate, Abraham.

Their actions have put them at risk of being dropped for Milan’s next Serie A match against Udinese, but the pair’s form leading up to the Fiorentina match has also contributed to that potential decision.

Abraham has found the net just once since his loan move from Roma on deadline day. Though he put in some encouraging performances in his first Rossoneri outings, the productivity in the final third has stalled somewhat in recent weeks.

Tomori, meanwhile, has had a couple of errors over the last 12 months, which have continued in the early portion of the 2024-25 campaign, which means there could be a return for either Strahinja Pavlovic or Malick Thiaw at centre-back against Udinese.
