Como manager Cesc Fabregas was recently asked about the rumors linking him with a move to Roma.
In an interview with Corriere dello Sport, Fabregas discussed his plans for the future.
“I don’t know, nothing is decided yet. I need a short break at the end of the season, a moment to breathe before sitting down at the table with Como…”
“I consider myself very lucky because here the management of daily life is the same whether you win or lose. The comparison is constant. I expect a lot, it’s true, because one thing that Conte taught me and repeated a few days ago is the essence of our work. The only one who is always at risk is the coach, it’s a question of internal and external expectations.”
“I have to understand where we want to go. And how. Yes, Como remains my priority.”
“It’s normal that someone has come forward looking for me. There are teams that are looking for a coach or a player. They call and that’s fine. That’s how it is, we shouldn’t lie to people. It happens everywhere. Do you think that Simeone hasn’t been called in all these years? And yet he’s still at Atletico. There’s a timing for everything.”
Then, Fabregas revealed an insight into his final playing years, “When I was at Chelsea Monchi looked for me for Roma.”
“I was going through a difficult time. Conte, when he first arrived, used Matic and Kantè in the middle of the field in a 3-4-3. These are situations that happen, but I wasn’t living it well. I had to push really hard to make him appreciate me and find space. Well, in that period I spoke with Monchi for Roma and Gazidis for Milan. They both wanted me.”
