The man that the Scottish Champions signed from Elfsborg in his homeland cost £3 million or so to bring to Scotland and the heirarchy will be looking to recoup a significant transfer fee.
Dutch side Twente made a loan offer for the Swede and after rumoured interest in his services from various quarters, including Serie A side Lecce, Lagerbielke decided to move to the Eredivisie side, where he has been playing well by all accounts. Now The Scottish Sun have reported that their sports’ director, Arnold Bruggink, will approach the Hoops with an offer for the centre-back.

Gustaf has gone from strength-to-strength in Holland and has even earned himself a recall to the Swedish national team. Likewise, he managed to grab his first goal for the club too in the Europa League against Swedish side Malmo last week, in a 3-2 win for his temporary employers. With Lagerbielke now finding a home where he is enjoying his football, the club should be looking to get as much as possible for him and get him off the wage bill completely to make more space in Rodgers’ squad.

Brendan wants to bring in more new faces this month after adding Felipe Jota and signing Kieran Tierney on a pre-contract agreement from Arsenal. It remains to be seen if the Tierney deal can be hastened to bring him back home this month, but Rodgers is still on the lookout for more talent regardless. Tobias Slotsager’s representatives have been contacted over a potential move to Celtic Park and with Lagerbielke, Stephen Welsh and soon Maik Nawrocki on the move, there is space for another, younger centre-back to supplement the squad.
