Former FC Bayern and Germany head coach Hansi Flick has extended his contract with FC Barcelona until 2027 following a highly successful first season in charge.

The 60-year-old German took over at the Catalan club last summer and quickly made an impact, leading Barça to a domestic treble - the Spanish Super Cup, Copa del Rey, and La Liga title.

“Hansi Flick has made Barça fans happy in his first season for many reasons: for the belief he has given to the team, for the epic comebacks, and for the trophies,” the club said in an official statement.

“The excitement that the German has brought to the club in his first year in charge has made FC Barcelona a feared rival once again in Europe.”

Flick as assistant coach to Joachim Löw during Germany’s 2014 World Cup triumph and later guided Bayern Munich to a historic treble as head coach in the 2019/20 season.

After leaving Bayern in 2021, he took over the German national team, but was dismissed in September 2023 following a disappointing run of results.

Now, Flick has firmly reestablished his reputation at club level and will look to build on a remarkable first season at Camp Nou.
