Benjamin Pavard addressed the media in the build-up to tonight’s Champions League meeting between Inter Milan and Monaco.
During his pre-match interview with the club’s official website, he revealed his motives for swapping Bayern Munich for Serie A.
After four years at the Allianz Arena, Benjamin Pavard signed for Inter in a €30 million deal in the summer of 2023.
His decision to work with Simone Inzaghi has proved spot on.
Indeed, the Frenchman helped Inter win a landmark 20th Scudetto in his first year in Serie A.
Furthermore, he was part of the team that won the Supercoppa Italiana title last term.
“Winning the league title with Inter was a special moment for me, for the club, and for the fans,” Pavard stated.
“It’s an important achievement for everyone.”
Meanwhile, a year before joining the Bavarians in 2019, he won the FIFA World Cup with France.
“That was a childhood dream<” Pavard recalled. “I remember hugging my parents as they cried – it was incredibly emotional.
“I left home very young, I’m an only child, and it wasn’t easy.
“But seeing their pride in me is the biggest satisfaction, and I owe everything to them.”
“Inter is a great club, and we step onto the pitch to raise the bar even higher,” he claimed.
“That’s why I’m here. We have a fantastic team, excellent players, and a strong desire to win – just like our fans, who support us at all times, both at home and away.

“I’ve always played football to win, to be proud of myself, and to make those close to me proud.
“For me, football is about sharing emotions, celebrating with the fans -that’s why I’ve been playing since I was a child.
“My father played football, and I would always watch his matches.
“He was even my coach when I was little, and that’s where my passion started.
“It was an emotional moment when I arrived here.
“I wanted to join this club to connect with the fans and win trophies. I also really liked my presentation video – it was a great feeling to see it when I arrived.”
Finally, Pavard explained why he would’ve loved to play alongside Javier Zanetti.
“It’s simple – he’s a legend. He was an inspiration. Adriano as well, another legend.”
