The football team set to represent Germany at the Olympics have walked off during a pre-tournament friendly after alleged racist abuse.
Germany were drawing 1-1 with Honduras with five minutes remaining when the players decided to leave the pitch. According to the nation’s official Twitter account, defender Jordan Torunarigha was racially abused in the behind-closed-doors match.
Torunarigha, who plays for Hertha BSC, has been the recipient of racist abuse before, leaving the pitch in tears after insults came from Schalke fans in a DFB Pokal match in early 2020.
