According to a report by Fabrice Hawkins, Gift Orban (22) has been left out of the Olympique Lyonnais squad for tonight’s match against Lille OSC following a comment he posted on former teammate Sinaly Diomande’s (23) Instagram post.

Diomande uploaded a picture of the goal he scored against Lyon last weekend during AJ Auxerre’s 2-2 draw with his previous club. Under the picture, Orban was seen commenting “top” with two fire emojis. This reply was reportedly not well received by the club management and the forward now risks losing his ethics bonus.

Gift Orban apologises but Lyon still angered

Orban apologised immediately for his actions and explained that he was just trying to show support for an ex-teammate and that he was unaware that the picture was of the draw with Lyon. Despite this, he will still be sanctioned by the club and will not travel with the team for tonight’s game. Lyon will be hoping to end a run of two games without a victory as they take a trip to the Stade Pierre-Mauroy where they will face an in-form Lille OSC.
