Enzo Maresca has just taken his press conference ahead of Chelsea’s game against Tottenham tomorrow night, and was asked about Jadon Sancho’s struggles for form.

He gave a very positive answer in general but didn’t get too into the specifics when it came to the winger.

As well as being asked about the struggling Sancho, Maresca was able to be a little more positive in speaking about Enzo Fernandez, who carried his improving club form into the international break. He starred (with a goal and an assist) for a really impressive Argentina side who whipped Brazil and look like perhaps the best national team in the world right now:

“Enzo, I said already last week, since we started, he’s improving a lot, he’s understanding the game much, much better,” Maresca said.

He didn’t lack specifics when speaking about Enzo, however:

“At the beginning he struggled in the derby, now he’s always doing the right things, he’s always in the right position and the reason why he’s scoring goals and assists is because most of the time he’s in the right position, even with the international team. He was in the right position, he was inside the box, so I’m happy for Enzo.”

Season climax starts with tough game against Spurs – Enzo must be at his best

We’re not sure which derby he’s talking about – but the derby we care about right now is the one against Tottenham on Thursday night. We certainly back the feisty former Benfica player to not shy away in potentially nasty games like that.

We just hope he Enzo can bring his Argentine form back into the Premier League for that game and the 8 that follow. Champions League qualification is on the line, and we need everyone at their best.
