Liverpool supporters are pretty familiar with how Slot likes to use Bradley now, but Frimpong offers a different skill set to the Reds’ current right-back.
Both fullbacks are very effective when supporting the attack, but Frimpong has typically been deployed further forward as either a right-wingback or even a right midfielder.
Slot may utilise his compatriot in this role but that isn’t how the Dutchman set his side up in his maiden campaign.
The Anfield faithful could instead see both Frimpong and Bradley on the pitch at the same time.
The Northern Irishman could be deployed as a more traditional right-back, whilst the Dutchman takes up a role high and wide on the right for Liverpool, allowing Mohamed Salah to move inside – closer to goal.
Salah has already confirmed that his slightly modified role under Slot – defending less and staying forward, closer to goal – has been key to his sensational season.
With Bradley at right-back and Frimpong on the right wing, Salah would have next to no defensive responsibilities and could sit even closer to the goal.
This is a frightening prospect for Liverpool’s opposition and would also solve the Reds’ need for a new striker.
It seems likely that Bradley and Frimpong will receive a share of the minutes at right-back in pre-season, but it cannot be ruled out that the pair both end up as starters at Anfield.
