Pep Guardiola has offered his views on punditry before facing off with Gary Neville and the Class of 92’s Salford City.

Manchester City will meet Salford City for the first time in history, with the latter only rising into the football league in recent years.

Salford are best known because of their famous owners coming from Manchester United’s ‘Class of 92’, namely David Beckham, Gary Neville, Phil Neville, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, and Nicky Butt.

Ahead of the clash with Neville’s side, Guardiola was quizzed on whether he has ever been asked to appear on television as a pundit. “I’ve been busy. I’ve been busy as a manager. I still have a job. So maybe when my job is gone. But I don’t think I’m going to do that.”

Justifying why being a pundit is not for him, City’s boss explains: “I’m so, I would say cautious or concerned to not make a comment that could hurt my colleagues. I know how difficult is our job, how difficult it is.

“I was a football player before and now a manager, and our business is so complicated. It is unpredictable, so difficult, and I don’t want to hurt my colleagues. Maybe it’s going to happen in the future, but I honestly I don’t think so.

Pundits have often drawn criticism from players and managers in the past and asked if he pays attention to them the Catalan admits: “Sometimes, yeah, of course. Sometimes, when I see a game and after a post-match, yeah, I listen to what they say.

“It’s a job they do, it’s normal. If it was boring, and they said obvious things, people will not pay attention. But normally I quite agree with what they say. I’m not joking.”

“I quite agree with what the pundits say about the game interpretation. So it’s not a big, big problem for me, I would say. I can be agree, I can be disagree, but my job is here and their job is there, it’s fine.

“I’ve said many times, if you don’t like to listen to what they say, then get another job, don’t be a manager. Managers get paid for many reasons, one of them is to accept what the people say in the good moments and the bad moments.”
