Italiano states Milan were predictable in Coppa Italia final: “My revenge”

After a poor run in finals in his career, Vincenzo Italiano finally won a trophy last night, thanks to AC Milan being predictable.
Last night’s was a game that we have seen Milan play so many times this season. Show sparks, but fail to set alight. The Rossoneri have shown glimpses all season, sometimes they have added up to a result, but the overwhelmingly common outcome has been a poor performance.
It was the latter last night, as Sergio Conceicao’s side failed to really show any signs of changing the game after Bologna took a hold of things in the first half. We saw the same spells of positivity, but they were outweighed by quality.
A very frustrating night indeed, and probably the final nail in the coffin for Conceicao. However, Vincenzo Italiano will not be his replacement, with reports suggesting that talks are already underway for a renewal.
The Italian coach did not touch on that post game, rather speaking about the game itself, as he spoke to SportMediaset, via Milan News.
“After some disappointments I think it was deserved. We played a great match, an incredible performance by the boys. We knew about Milan’s moves in the second half, the path we have taken is crowned with this cup. These people deserved this trophy.”
Are the three finals lost also among the disappointments?
“Those too, of course. They were three heavy disappointments. I didn’t think I could get my revenge right away. I’m happy. An important trophy, I dedicate it to the guys. Joe Barone’s son sent me a message today, the special dedication goes to his entire family: I was immensely pleased to read a message from them this morning.
“We have been on a path of growth. Some initial difficulties, then growth as individuals and as a team. Today a great performance, I’m truly happy. Incredible.”
