Inter Milan wingback Federico Dimarco admits that he has not been in the best of form for some time.
The wingback spoke to InterTV, via FCInterNews, after this evening’s 1-1 Serie A draw against Napoli.
It was something of an evening of mixed emotions for Inter Milan wingback Federico Dimarco.
In the first half of today’s top-of-the-table Serie A clash with Napoli, the 27-year-old scored the opener. He did so with a spectacular free kick.
However, in the second half, Dimarco had to come off with an injury.
The Italian international only made it a few minutes into the half. He went down holding his right thigh, with initial reports indicating that the problem was a contracture to the thigh flexor muscle.
After the match, Federico Dimarco made clear that “We knew we were up against a strong team in Napoli.”
“We have to congratulate the team, who played with character and the desire to bring the result home.”

“It’s a shame about the late goal,” Dimarco continued. “But it’s a point we’re keeping close to us.”
“You can’t fault the team for anything in terms of character and charisma,” Dimarco continued.
“We were up against a different opponent.”
The Inter wingback noted that Napoli “created a lot, and we didn’t create quite as much.”
“But I think it’s a big points for us,” he made clear.
Meanwhile, Dimarco gave his thoughts on his free kick goal in the first half.
“It’s been a long time since I scored like that,” the Italian international said. “I would have liked to have celebrated it with a win, but it’s ok anyway.”
“We haven’t trained much on free kicks lately. Let’s just say it was a good goal.”
Dimarco said that “It makes me really happy to hear the compliments.”
“But at this level, it’s never easy to always play at a high level.”
“This has been a period where I honestly haven’t been playing at my best,” Dimarco admitted. “But that can happen during a season.”
“I’ve tried to stay quiet and just work. And today the goal arrived.”
