The French Women’s national team squad has been unveiled by manager Corinne Diacre ahead of the upcoming Tournoi de France, with the notable inclusion of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Kheira Hamraoui, who had been absent from the national team for nearly a year.

The former Barcelona player was the victim of an attack fifteen months ago, in an affair which notably saw former club teammate Aminata Diallo charged, temporarily incarcerated, and then released under legal supervision over her alleged role in the incident – having been the driver of the car that Hamraoui was dragged out of on the night of the assault.

The last international break that Hamraoui had been a part of notably saw PSG players Kadidiatou Diani and Marie-Antoinette Katoto celebrate a goal by making an “A” sign in support of Diallo, when at the time the latter had been questioned for a first time and initially released with no charges.

Diacre has justified Hamraoui’s return to the squad by explaining that she has been a regular for PSG of late, and that this international break would allow her to get an idea of her potential squad going forward.

Les Bleues will take on Denmark, Uruguay and Norway in a series of matches later this month, the first to be played in Laval and the latter two in Angers. The fixtures will be the final set of games before the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand this summer.
