Lazio are determined to add a new striker to their ranks next season, so they have reportedly set their sights on Rafiu Durosinmi and Fotis Ioannidis.

The Background

This season, Marco Baroni has been relying on Taty Castellanos as his main centre-forward, with Boulaye Dia playing as a second striker. However, the results have proven that the Biancocelesti have been less effective when either one has been missing, as the likes of Tijjani Noslin and Loum Tchaouna haven’t been able to fill the void.

Two Options for Lazio

According to Il Corriere dello Sport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), the Biancocelesti are now convinced that a new bomber is required, so the management has reportedly identified two targets for this role.

Lazio Revive Interest in Fotis Ioannidis

First, Lazio have rekindled their interest in Ioannidis, whom they pursued last summer before deciding to buy Dia. As the source recalls, the Greece international was coming off a solid campaign at Panathinaikos (23 goals in 44 matches), so the Athens-based giants shot high, requesting €30 million to part ways with the 25-year-old.

Nevertheless, the situation has changed now, with Ioannidis enduring a less prolific campaign, only scoring 11 goals from his 40 appearances, so the asking price dropped to circa €18 million. As the Roman newspaper explains, the Greek’s form hasn’t deterred the interest of Angelo Fabiani, as the Lazio sporting director could try to seize the opportunity to lure the striker to Rome.

Lazio Also Chasing Rafiu Durosinmi

Moreover, Lazio continue to closely follow Durosimni, the Nigerian striker who scored against them in the Europa League Round of 16. The report confirms that Fabiani had already spoken with the player’s entourage on the eve of the away contest against Viktoria Plzen.

The Lagos native has thus far scored eight goals and provided four assists in 17 appearances across all competitions for the Czech club this season. His price tag is estimated at €8-9 million.
