PSV’s Luuk de Jong (34) has taken note of the rumours surrounding him and FC Utrecht with surprise. The Eindhoven striker has an expiring contract and was linked with a move to the fourth-placed Eredivisie side, yet, according to De Jong, the move is not an option.
Arno Vermeulen announced last Sunday on the Studio Voetbal show, that there is something going on between De Jong and FC Utrecht. The centre forward immediately dismissed that option.
“I saw it on the internet. FC Utrecht was mentioned. If I continue to play football in the Netherlands, it will be at PSV.”
“I don’t understand where they get that from. My contract is expiring and I haven’t said much about it yet. I’m in talks with PSV and I haven’t made up my mind. I still have to look into all that and then they start speculating of course. That’s also part of this profession.”
Evidently, De Jong does not see himself playing for another Dutch club other than PSV. However, what about a return to his childhood sweetheart De Graafschap?
“I have seen that happen before. It depends purely on how I am at that moment. But definitely not next season. I still feel fit and good. I want to play for clubs where you can compete for prizes and titles. That is possible at PSV, so I am still in talks. I will finish the season and then see what exactly I want.”
