Olympique Lyonnais have authorised goalkeeper Lucas Perri (27) to return to his native Brazil, where his wife is about to give birth, L’Équipe understands.
Lyon’s squad returned to France in the early morning on Friday, heading straight to the airport after their demoralising UEFA Europa League exit against Manchester United (5-4, agg. 7-6). However, upon his return to Lyon, Perri did not stay long. The goalkeeper was not present at Friday afternoon’s training session.
Instead, he has been authorised by the club to return to Brazil, where his wife is giving birth. As a result, Perri is out of Les Gones’ derby fixture against AS Saint-Étienne, set to take place on Sunday night. In his place, it will be former FC Nantes shot-stopper Rémy Descamps who will take his place, whilst youngster Lassine Diarra will take a place on the bench for the crucial game against Les Verts as OL look to maintain their UEFA Champions League qualification spot.
