That is according to Sport, which has reported that representatives of Doku have offered the winger to Barcelona on a loan deal until the end of the season.
The 22-year-old is unhappy with the current situation at City following the signing of forward Omar Marmoush from German club Eintracht Frankfurt.
Doku has made only nine starts and just two substitute appearances in the UEFA Champions League this season. The £55.5 million (Sky Sports) winger wants to play more.
Sport has reported that Barcelona are looking for a left winger, but their initial response to signing Doku on a loan deal is that they do not have the space to accommodate the 22-year-old Belgium international star’s salary.
While City, who have been linked with Sverre Nypan, are not having a great season, Doku should stay at the Etihad Stadium and not leave for Barcelona in the January transfer window, even on a loan deal.
True, the Belgian is not guaranteed a place in Pep Guardiola’s starting line-up, but he is only 22 and joined the defending Premier League champions in the summer of 2023.
Guardiola is one of the greatest managers of all time and is a world-class coach.
Doku can only improve and develop his game if he works with the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss on a regular basis.
The winger has made 44 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career. The winger has scored six goals and given 12 assists in those games.
City are fourth in the Premier League table at the moment with 41 points from 23 matches and are in danger of missing out on a Champions League because of competition from the likes of Chelsea, Newcastle United and Bournemouth.
