Inter Miami managing owner Jorge Mas has said he believes Lionel Messi will renew his contract with the MLS club.
Messi joined Inter Miami following two seasons with Paris Saint-Germain and has been influential for the club, scoring 42 goals in 48 games in all competitions since his arrival.
The Argentinian's contract with Inter Miami is set to expire at the end of the calendar year however there is confidence will extend his stay in Florida.
"The stars are aligning for very good things, for a very bright future for the club and for Lionel," Mas told FDP Radio.
"It's purely his decision, I foresee that in the next 60 or 90 days we will need to define this because, obviously, the planning of a club is very important. We have the transfer windows coming up and we are competing in the Club World Cup this summer."
"I know that Leo aspires to win everything in the MLS. My wish has always been everything that we are doing, which is to see Lionel Messi in the new stadium in 2026. I hope it happens, but renewal is a decision up to him. We are talking with Lionel about the future, an important factor for him is his family."
Mas also mentioned that Messi could eventually become one of the club's owners – much like David Beckham.
"I told him that this is not just a relationship between the president of a club and a player, because he came to grow this project. When he retires, he will be a partner of Inter Miami, along with me, my other partner, and David Beckham. This was one of the things that helped bring Messi because this is a legacy to also leave to his children."
Inter Miami are currently second in the MLS Eastern Conference one point behind Columbus Crew, although Messi and co have a game in hand.
