Another match, another big injury worry for Miguel Herrera and América as Andrés Ibargüen needed to be taken off in the 23rd minute of their 1-1 draw at Tigres with a right leg injury.
Fortunately this time around, it appears that Ibargüen simply suffered a knock and should be back in a week.
“Fortunately Ibargüen is not injured, his muscle is bruised and we decided not to risk him anymore. He can miss a week,” Herrera said.
“He was hit hard and we preferred to make the decision to get him out of the game.”
Ibargüen will miss Tuesday’s match against Pachuca and will race to be fit in time for Saturday’s match away to Atlas.
With Nicolás Castillo, Nicolás Benedetti, Giovani dos Santos, and Henry Martín all out injured and slowly recovering, América supporters can breathe a big sigh of relief.
