Not sure how many goals I celebrated today!!

Hard to believe it was ‘only’ 3-0 in the end.

At the Leazes End we were treated to some special attacking play that should have seen us win by a bucket load.

We move on to Old Trafford, can’t wait.

Happy times.’

‘No sign of a Boxing Day hangover at St James’ Park.

A performance of high intensity which was back to some of our best stuff.

The contest was made easier by Jhon Duran’s brainless red card but the tone had been set pretty early on with Anthony Gordon’s exquisite effort following some excellent work from our midfield.

We should have had 5 or 6 in truth but a combination of Martinez, the woodwork and VAR kept the scoreline closer than it should have been. Onwards and Upwards.’

‘Absolutely brilliant and so well-deserved! Merry Christmas!

The Toon looked up for this one form the start and such an early goal meant we were always on the front foot.

Four wins in a row now and looking a match for anyone.

‘Festive fireworks at SJP as United thrash Villa to move up to fifth place.

It was a pulsating contest from the kick off and we only had wait less than 90 seconds for Gordon to lash home a stunner from long range.

It set the tone.

The other key moment came when the in-form Duran was shown a deserved red card for stamping on Schar. He didn’t take it well and there were ugly scenes.

We were too good for them today.

It’s a great sign and things have really turned around of late. Credit to both the manager and all of the players.

I expected a hard game today. Emery has done a great job and Villa are a decent side.

So to see them off is a real boost and keeps us in shape for a strong second half of the season.’

Billy Miller:

‘Wonderful end to the festive period as we surge to 5th.

We scored 3 goals once in the first 16 games, in all competitions, and now we’ve scored 3 or more in 5 of the previous 6 and all the last 4.

Solid performance and quality goals today.

Yes, it was easier with the red card but we controlled the game and I’m not convinced the Bruno goal should have been disallowed either.

This is the best time to be playing Man Utd and Tottenham but both those sides are so unpredictable so we certainly can’t be getting complacent.

We’re right back in contention for Europe again and IF there’s money to spend next month, we’ll be a lot more attractive prospect than we were last month.’

‘Well that was nice!

That was the best we have played for some time against a team who were still a challenge with 10 men.

However, we got right at them and played them off the park.

Two goals disallowed for hardly any reason and numerous other attempts.

Again, it was a real team performance against much more of a challenge than lately.

We looked quicker, fitter and better.

The midfield is firing now and we looked like our old selves.

Credit to Eddie and the lads.

Final comment – I noticed several Villa players laughing during the game and the looks on their faces at the end looked like they had won not lost.

Still, who cares . Happy Boxing Day!’

‘Didn’t make it to the game today due to still having the flu, also missed Ipswich away, so I knew it was bad.

So watching on the telly, great goal by AG.

Should the villa lad have been sent off? Taking my firestick black and white glasses off, probably no.

Do I care? Even less.

So hopefully off to Man Utd, then Spurs and Arsenal next, then Bromley at home… ooh what a great time to support us
