PSG’s worst fears regarding France international left-back Lucas Hernandez (28) have unfortunately materialized. The former Bayern Munich defender, who limped off the pitch last night during Les Parisiens‘ 1-0 loss against Borussia Dortmund, has sustained an ACL tear in his left knee, prematurely ending his debut season in the capital, PSG have confirmed. The elder of the Hernandez brothers will also have to sit out the upcoming Euro 2024 with France.
It is a sickening blow for Hernandez, considering he suffered a previous ACL tear, in his right knee, during Les Bleus‘ 2022 World Cup opening game against Australia. The 28-year-old left-back would have probably made the cut in Didier Deschamps’ squad list, which is set to drop in two weeks. Given the nature of his injury, Lucas Hernandez is also expected to miss a big chunk of the 2024-2025 season.
The Ligue 1 champions add that an MRI scan carried out this Thursday confirmed the diagnosis made by the club’s doctors on Wednesday evening. Lucas Hernandez is set to undergo surgery in the next few days.
