A headline member of the first-team ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona is ready to block out the noise from around him, to stay put with the club next season.
That’s according to transfer journalist Florian Plettenberg, who points towards Marc-André ter Stegen as the player in question.
Goalkeeper Ter Stegen has of course seen his future in Catalunya’s capital thrown firmly up in the air of late.
Amid the growing expectation that Barcelona will strike a deal for Espanyol standout Joan García this summer, and with Wojciech Szczęsny looking set to stay put for another 12 months, the Blaugrana’s long-term no.1 has been left as the odd man out in Hansi Flick’s squad.
Add to this a recent social media campaign against him on the part of Barca’s supporters, and Ter Stegen’s departure has begun to look a case of when, rather than if.
As alluded to above, however, if the latest word stemming from the media this weekend is anything to go by, then the German international himself appears to have no intention of moving on quietly.
As per a report from the aforementioned Florian Plettenberg of Sky:
‘Marc-André ter Stegen is fully informed about the plan to sign Joan Garcia but he currently wants to stay. He wants to remain the number 1 in the new season.’
