Lazio could receive a major boost in the coming days, as Taty Castellanos and Elseid Hysaj could make their respective returns to action.
The Albanian full-back suffered a medium-grade lesion in the left thigh during the Serie A contest against Cagliari on February 3rd, and was initially expected to miss at least five weeks of action. The Argentinian striker then sustained an almost similar injury in the adductor during the big showdown against Napoli on February 15th. Many believed he would be out for an entire month.
But according to Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24), the two players underwent new medical checks in recent days, and the positive results gave hope of faster than expected recoveries.
Although the duo are certainly going to skip Sunday’s showdown against AC Milan, they might be on the flight next week when the squad heads to the Czech Republic to take on Viktoria Plzen in the first leg of the Europa League Round of 16.
Marco Baroni would certainly be delighted to have both players back in his ranks. After all, the team fired blanks against Venezia and Inter Milan in the absence of Castellanos. Moreover, Luca Pellegrini’s omission from the Serie A and Europa League squads leaves Nuno Tavares without a proper backup, so Hysaj’s return would take some of the burden off the Portuguese’s shoulders.
