PSV suffered a hugely surprising 3-1 defeat to PEC Zwolle on Saturday afternoon, shaking up the Eredivisie title race. PEC’s Bulgarian star Filip Krastev stole the show with two stunning goals and an assist, while PSV captain Luuk de Jong endured a night to forget after missing a crucial penalty.

Trouble began early for Peter Bosz’s side at the MAC3Park Stadium. Just two minutes in, Jerdy Schouten lost possession, allowing Krastev to dribble to the edge of the box and unleash a brilliant strike off the inside of the post, leaving Walter Benítez helpless. PSV struggled to respond, but Johan Bakayoko eventually equalised after 25 minutes, heading home Ivan Perisic’s well-timed cross.

PSV had a golden chance to take the lead shortly after, but De Jong missed his spot kick following a foul on Perisic. PEC Zwolle capitalised on the miss before halftime, with Krastev slotting home after a cleared corner in the 38th minute.

Despite a late push from PSV, including a Pepi header that hit the crossbar, Krastev sealed the victory in stoppage time, assisting Dylan Vente for the third goal. This marked PSV’s third Eredivisie defeat of the season, leaving the title race wide open. With Ajax able to close the gap to one point with a win against Heerenveen on Sunday, PSV now turns their focus to a crucial Champions League clash with Red Star Belgrade on Tuesday. Meanwhile, PEC Zwolle move up to 17th in the table, seven points off the drop zone.
