The first international break of 2025 saw Real Madrid breakout talent Raul Asencio earn his first-ever senior call-up to the Spanish national team.
The 22-year-old La Fabrica talent was called up for the UEFA Nations League quarter-finals against the Netherlands, although he did not make his debut for La Roja.
Now, as Spain get set to take on France in the semi-finals of the Nations League next month, manager Luis de la Fuente is not going to include Asencio in the squad, reports Radio MARCA.
The defensive starlet has been one of the few positives of the season for Real Madrid, racking up 41 senior appearances and appearing solid at the back more often than not.

However, De la Fuente has his preferred centre-backs such as Pau Cubarsi, Aymeric Laporte, and Dani Vivian fit and available.
As such, it is unlikely that Asencio will be called up to the squad by the Spain head coach ahead of the crucial Nations League encounter against France.
However, in case there are any injuries in the defensive department in the La Roja squad, there is a strong likelihood that Asencio would be first in line to be drafted in as a replacement.
De la Fuente will announce the squad list for the Nations League on Monday, May 26.
With Dani Carvajal recovering from injury and the likes of Dani Ceballos, Fran Garcia, and Lucas Vazquez not in De la Fuente’s plans, new signing Dean Huijsen might end up being the only Real Madrid who gets called up.
