Real Madrid have publicly expressed their support for Girona manager Michel, who has been hospitalised.
The coach himself announced the news on Friday in a statement, confirming that he would not be on the bench for Saturday’s match against Villarreal due to a health issue.
“After a health setback, I will not be able to be on the bench for the match against Villarreal on Saturday,” Michel wrote.
“I need to take a few days to rest and recover in order to return as soon as possible. I am feeling well and under medical observation,” he added.
Taking to social media, Real Madrid have sent well wishes Michel’s way following his sudden hospitalisation.
“From everyone at Real Madrid, we want to send you all our support. Lots of strength and encouragement to see you, dear @Michel8Sanchez, back on the bench as soon as possible,” the post from Real Madrid read.
Having taken Girona to the UEFA Champions League by virtue of a top-four finish in La Liga last season, Michel has been unable to recreate the same magic this time out.
Girona, at the moment, are languishing in the 15th place in La Liga, just six points clear of the relegation zone.
Real Madrid have faced Girona twice this season, beating the Catalan club on both occasions, scoring five goals and conceding none across the two games.
