It is no secret that Real Madrid are actively looking to strengthen their squad, and two high-profile names have emerged as key targets.
Interestingly, according to Real Madrid Confidencial, the club’s pursuit of Joshua Kimmich is directly tied to their ongoing efforts to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The Liverpool right-back, who is in the final months of his contract, is edging closer to a move to the Santiago Bernabeu. However, his decision could have a direct impact on whether Kimmich also joins the Spanish giants.
Alexander-Arnold has long been on Real Madrid’s radar, and with his contract situation at Liverpool uncertain, the club sees this as the perfect opportunity to secure his signature.
At present, this transfer seems closer than ever to becoming a reality. In fact, Florentino Perez has been keen on bringing him to Madrid, and this summer could finally see that happen.

Meanwhile, Kimmich finds himself in a similar situation. Bayern Munich have not offered him a contract extension, meaning he will be available as a free agent at the end of the season.
The 30-year-old’s versatility, capable of playing both as a right-back and a midfielder, makes him a highly valuable option for any club. If, for some reason, Alexander-Arnold does not complete his move, Madrid would likely turn their attention to Kimmich as an alternative.
However, even if Alexander-Arnold joins, there is still a strong chance that Kimmich could arrive as well. His ability to play in midfield could see him take on a role similar to that of Toni Kroos, bringing stability and experience to the team.
With both players available for free, Real Madrid could seize the opportunity to sign two world-class talents without spending a transfer fee.
While much depends on Alexander-Arnold’s final decision, Madrid’s interest in Kimmich remains strong.
Whether it is just one or both players arriving, the club could be looking at a summer of major reinforcements without breaking the bank.
