In terms of clubs who you'd think need a little extra cash injection, the record-breaking Blues would not be high on that list. They have spent an astronomical amount of money on player transfers over the past year and have committed to building a new stadium and Sports Quarter in the east of the city - the stadium alone is expected to cost £2-3 billion.

Birmingham have also received some financial help as a result of the Amazon Prime documentary series which followed their 2024/25 title-winning campaign, which is set to come out this summer. The club's chairman, Tom Wagner, recently revealed that the money received from doing the series helped them to spend as much as they did this season.

Birmingham City receive new investment

This latest acquiring of shares isn't one that is going to shift the needle too much, though. The names of one of the new sets of investors are Alex and Alicia Guerrero. Mr Guerrero is a coach of his now fellow co-owner of the club, NFL star Tom Brady.

Guerrero has become an influential behind-the-scenes character for City this season, according to Birmingham Live. He has watched over the club's medical department as they made a big shift in a new direction, although some supporters may question its effectiveness given the amount of injuries that Chris Davies' side have dealt with this season.

Like Brady, who owns the equivalent of a 3.3 pence stake in the club, as per Kieran Maguire, the Guerreros' investment is a minor one, as per Birmingham Live.

Other names that have jumped aboard the Birmingham ship include a lot of wealthy Americans, unsurprisingly.

Paramour Capital, who are owned by an investment banker named Michael Kramer, are now along for the ride, as is James DeMare, the president of global markets at Bank of America, The Religion of Sports Media, a sports media production company that has worked with some of the most famous American athletes, like LeBron James and Simone Biles.

Ameeth Sankaran, who has links to Religion of Sports, has also invested in the club, as well as a property investment company called Owl Holdings Limited, who have the biggest shareholding of all the new investors, as per the update published on Companies House.

New investment in Birmingham City come as no surprise

It's clear that this club is only going in one direction and that is upwards. The League One table, which shows they are on track to beat this iteration of the third tier's all-time points record, shows it. The Amazon Prime documentary shows it, and so do all the people wanting to get a slice of the blue Brummie pie.

Americans investing is no new thing in the EFL, in fact it's become very fashionable, and with such a powerful force like Knighthead at the helm of City, it's only going to continue to attract more and more investors.
