Rodinei’s time at Flamengo has reportedly come to end after he failed to reach agreement on an extension with the Rubro-Negro.
The 30-year-old right-back will not stay on with the Copa Libertadores winners when his current deal runs out at the end of December, according to respected journalist Venê Casagrande.
The news follows on from comments made by Flamengo president Rodolfo Landim to ESPN earlier in the day.
“Concern, because we are very far from a deal with Rodinei, even though we like him a lot and he likes Flamengo a lot,” Landim said.
“The player has to see the opportunities he has in the market. As far as we know, they are excellent opportunities for him in terms of contract value.
“We believe that he did not sign a pre-contract because he is obliged to communicate that to the club. He has a very close relationship with us.
“There, at the end of season celebration (which took place on Sunday), he was talking about renewal. If it doesn’t work out, we wish him every success.”
Rodinei is expected to sign a three-year deal with Atlético Mineiro.
