Sevilla have announced that Ivan Rakitić has officially left the club, and the 35-year-old is expected to join Saudi Pro League club Al-Shabab.
Rakitić returned to the Estadio Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan for a second spell in the summer of 2020, having previously spent three years with the club between 2011 and 2014.
The playmaker was the club’s vice-captain, and leaves with the second-most appearances for the club in the current squad – 323 – behind only Jesús Navas.
He scored a total of 51 goals and assisted 63 others for Los Nervionenses, and helped them lift the Europa League in both 2014 and 2023.
The Croatian international – who of course won numerous LaLiga titles, Copas del Rey and the Champions League with Barcelona – had a contract which was set to expire this summer, but has now terminated it early in order to move to Saudi Arabia in January.
