A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona on Saturday overtook Liverpool counterpart Trent Alexander-Arnold in a noteworthy statistical category.
The player in question? Jules Koundé.
Defender Koundé of course took his place front and centre in the headlines across Spain late yesterday evening.
This came after the France international netted the winning goal, in a tense Copa del Rey final showdown between Barca and Real Madrid.
After pouncing upon a loose pass in the Real Madrid half, Koundé drove forward, before directing an unstoppable drive beyond the helpless Thibaut Courtois.
And as alluded to above, in the process, the former Sevilla man broke his tie with Real Madrid-bound Trent Alexander-Arnold, widely considered one of the game’s standout attacking full-backs.
Koundé, across the season to date, has now racked up 12 combined goals and assists.
This is one more than managed by Liverpool’s starring right-back, an impressive achievement on Koundé’s part.
