Fabrizio Romano reports that the Bundesliga is the most likely destination for Manchester City midfielder James McAtee with a host of clubs interested.

Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, VfB Stuttgart and Mainz have all enquired about the availability of McAtee, who would like to leave City due to a lack of playing time. The 22-year-old scored a hat-trick at the weekend as City beat Salford 8-0 in the FA Cup.

Dortmund have been the team most strongly linked with McAtee and are interested in a loan with an option to buy in the summer or a straight permanent move in the summer. Die Schwarzgelben need reinforcements in midfield as for most of this season, they haven’t performed at a high enough level and that sees the club currently sitting in eighth in the Bundesliga.

Chelsea’s Carney Chukwuemeka is also an option for Dortmund. Whether that hinders their pursuit of McAtee is yet to be seen, but due to their current injury issues, the more the merrier. Especially players who are young and have something to prove as they will likely challenge the older players who have been mediocre (Brandt) for a while now.

Dortmund are also looking to raid Chelsea once again to help boost their defensive options. Ex-Augsburg defender Renato Veiga is of interest but due to Chelsea’s unwillingness to send him out on loan, and wanting €20-24m, it is looking difficult for Dortmund.
