The truth behind Lamine Yamal’s frustration at Hansi Flick during Barcelona vs Atalanta | OneFootball

Every single player at FC Barcelona is eager to prove their worth and deliver on the big stage. After all, it is in those moments that these stars are born and can etch their names into the history books. Unfortunately, however, not every player gets to make such a mark with Barcelona.

Yet, there are those that have the potential and the capability to do it quite evidently. One such player at Barcelona right now is Lamine Yamal, the 17-year-old Spanish sensation who continues to grab headlines and alter the course of games no matter who or what he comes up against.

In the most recent game against Atalanta, despite the draw, Yamal was once again excellent. His dribbling, his ideas, and his goal were all wonderful to see. However, the player was left visibly frustrated when he was substituted by Hansi Flick when the score was still tied at 2-2.

Despite the fact that a very short time was left in the game either way, Yamal’s frustration at the decision was visible and even Hansi Flick himself seemed to notice it. For that reason, as highlighted by SPORT, the coach even spoke to the player on the sideline and later stated that it is normal for a player to feel that way:

“He was sad about the substitution, which is normal, but I wanted to change something.”

However, this is not the first time that Yamal has been upset over a substitution decision. It happened before in October of last year as well, and it just goes on to show the competitive nature of the youngster and how badly he wants to help the team secure a better result.

Similarly, the Barcelona winger also confirmed it himself. Clarifying that the coach told him to stay calm and even praised him, Yamal pointed out that Flick now wants him to turn his attention back towards La Liga:

“He told me to stay calm, that I played a good match, and that now it’s time to focus on the League.”

With the UEFA Champions League group league phase now wrapped up, Barça have managed to book their place in the Round of 16. As for the team’s opponents, there is already an understanding of who those teams could end up being.
