Manchester United are one of the clubs interested in signing River Plate wonderkid Franco Mastantuono, according to Inter Live.
The Red Devils have focused on recruiting emerging talents over the past year. Mastantuono has now emerged as a transfer target.
Inter Live report that United and Manchester City have thought about the 17-year-old, who has already made 41 first-team appearances.
Inter Milan are also interested in the Argentine wonderkid, but they have no plans to pay the reported release clause of £33 million.
The Nerazzurri are willing to offer £12.5m to purchase the talented midfielder.
Real Madrid have also been linked with him but have ended their pursuit after he signed a new deal with a high release clause.
The teenager is one of the best-emerging talents in Argentine football. He registered four goals and three assists from 42 games for River last term.
Mastantuono is an attacking midfielder by trade but can also operate as a right-sided winger.
The left-footed youngster has caught the eye with his chance creation and clever movement.
He still needs to improve his distribution, which should happen with age and experience.
In our view, United are unlikely to make a huge outlay on him. A transfer could depend on River negotiating a lesser fee than the buy-out clause.
With Inter planning to offer £12.5m, United should make an improved bid in the region of £15-17m to secure an early agreement for the next transfer window.
Mastantuono won’t be able to join the Red Devils until he turns 18 on August 14 due to Brexit rules regarding the signing of underage footballers.
