Brighton & Hove Albion head coach Dario Vidošić has called on his side to improve their recent away from, starting with this weekend’s trip to Tottenham Hotspur.

The Seagulls have lost their last six matches on the road, a complete contrast to their home form which has seen them lose just once in normal time all season.

When speaking to the media ahead of this weekend’s trip to Spurs, Brighton & Hove Albion boss Vidošić said that his side will be targeting an improvement to their away form.

“We’ve had some good performances and not-so-good performances,” Vidošić said. “We want to try and turn those into more wins and have a better record when we go away from home. We have had some very tough trips, especially at the start [after the winter break]; very long trips and midweek games against very good opponents. We probably didn’t deal with it the best way, so we need to learn from that. I feel like we are in a good place now, so this weekend is a good opportunity.”

The two sides played out a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture in Crawley before Christmas. Vidošić says that his side need to capitalise on their moments this weekend.

He said “I thought first half, we were very good against them and second half in patches but we probably didn’t control it well enough. They probably stepped a little bit higher and we didn’t deal with it. We had lower numbers, so I could put it down to fatigue a little bit. Even then, when we have those moments and patches of dominance, we can put a few goals away. We didn’t manage to do that last time in the first half; we went 1-0 down in a moment that we should do better in and then Marisa [Olislagers] scored that fantastic goal to get us the equaliser.

“I think it’ll be a good game again and it’ll come down to moments. They’re a good team, they possess a lot of quality and we will have to be at our best.”

Brighton & Hove Albion battled out an impressive 2-2 draw with Barclays Women’s Super League leaders Chelsea last time out and Vidošić wants consistency in the performances that follow that game.

He said “It’s important that it’s every single week, every single matchday and each day that we apply ourselves. We can’t say that we have a so-called ‘big game’ this weekend, so now we perform or treat it differently. The most important thing is that we apply ourselves correctly and ensure that we look to improve each and every day.

“We’ve had a little bit of time until this weekend, so we have had time to really work. Now, we are all looking forward to getting back out there and being competitive again.”

Brighton & Hove Albion’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture at Tottenham Hotspur kicks-off at 3pm on Sunday afternoon.
