Arsenal Women star Leah Williamson hailed the impact of team-mate Kim Little after the Gunners reached the Champions League final – and says she deserves “seven or eight Champions League titles”.

Arsenal overturned a 2-1 first-leg deficit in the Champions League semi-final with Lyon, thrashing them 4-1 in the second leg to win 5-3 on aggregate.

And Williamson highlighted Little for particular praise after her side set up a final showdown with Barcelona.

“To be honest the first person and the only person I wanted to see was Kim,” Williamson said.

“Kim Little is an unbelievable footballer that goes under the radar all the time.

“Unfortunately the international stage didn’t provide her with these incredible opportunities but she’s a player worthy of seven or eight Champions League titles I think.

“I’m very proud that the team did that for her today and the way that she led us, it’s pretty special.

“That’s what’s making me happy in the celebrations.”

Arsenal face the daunting task of having to beat Barcelona to win the trophy, after the Spanish giants demolished the Gunners’ WSL rivals Chelsea 8-2 on aggregate in the semi-finals.

But Williamson says she and her side are hungry to win a second European title for the club.

“It’s a final right, and most of us in the team haven’t been there before,” she said.

“But it’s one game. You can expect everything in the last game of the season and the it’s first time I’ve ever been involved so you can expect the same gutsy performance that you saw today.

“It’s not really sunk in yet but I’m very proud of the team.

“In the first leg, I know we came away 2-1 down but on paper it was better than it looked which gave us confidence I think.

“These games are won and lost in the boxes and the girls finished their chances, and I think we were fairly resilient at the back too.”
