Szczesny came out of retirement to join Barcelona on a free transfer to replace Marc-Andre ter Stegen in October.

The move proved to be a masterstroke as the former Juventus star has made a tremendous impact for the Spanish giants in all competitions.

Having played decisive roles in the Spanish Super Cup and Copa del Rey successes, Szczesny is on the brink of helping Barca win the La Liga title.

He was also impressive in the Champions League, producing monumental performances against Benfica and Borussia Dortmund in the knockout stage.

Manager Hansi Flick has stuck with the former Arsenal star as the number one despite Ter Stegen’s return from injury.

Flick will be caught in a dilemma about whether to continue with Szceny as the primary option between the sticks or allow Ter Stegen to reclaim his place next season.

Ter Stegen is one of Barca’s longest-serving players, but his performances in big games have often drawn criticism. His current contract expires in June 2028.

Szczesny will consider factors such as his family before making a final decision on his future.

Barca are also working to extend Raphinha’s contract following his sensational performances this season.

The Brazilian remains a top target for the Saudi Pro League clubs, but the Catalan giants are inching closer towards finalising a renewal.

Barca moved seven points clear at the top of La Liga after beating Real Madrid 4-3 on Sunday. They can seal the league title with a victory over Espanyol on Thursday.
