Youssoufa Moukoko has spoken out after he and teammate Jessic Ngankman were allegedly subject to racial abuse on social media following Germany’s 1-1 draw with Israel at the U21 Euros.

Both players missed penalties during the game, and the Borussia Dortmund star released a strong statement in an interview with BILD afterward.

“Such things are not part of football. That’s disgusting! It just hurts,” said the 18-year-old. “If we win, we are the German heroes. If we lose, there’s monkey commentary and we’re just Black guys.”

“I also feel sorry for Jessic in particular, who is very upset by all this. He is very sad and disappointed, I tried to cheer him up.

“We are all the same, we all bleed the same blood. What’s that supposed to mean? We’re all just a bunch of lads and we feel like playing football.

“The wrong way would be to ignore it. We have to fight against these people, fight against these idiots!”

Moukoko’s club later posted a statement in support of their player, as well as Hertha Berlin’s Ngankman.
