Southampton forward Tyler Dibling wants the club to put up their best performance against Manchester United.
The much anticipated Premier League matchday has arrived. Today, Southampton will visit the Old Trafford to play Manchester United with their season on the line.
Matches against a Big Six Premier League club are always exciting. More so, when getting a good result could decide whether Southampton will be able to avoid the drop or not.
These are the kind of matches, big players often look forward to.
Understandably, there is one in the Southampton camp too. The player is none other than teenage superstar Tyler Dibling.
Coincidentally, Dibling also made his first Premier League start against the Red Devils in September. Despite Dibling's best efforts, the Saints were defeated 3-0.
Southampton need the result to be different on Thursday. Furthermore, Tyler Dibling has also spoken about it.
Speaking to BBC Sport Wales as quoted by the Daily Echo, Dibling said: "We need to take our performance against Swansea into the Premier League and see if we can get some results."
These are truly courageous words, that too from an 18-year-old. Recently, Ivan Juric also called Southampton to take inspiration from the Swansea win.
Without a doubt, there is a big difference between Swansea and Manchester United.
But, never say never in the Premier League. Upsets happen all the time and who knows, the Red Devils could decide to field a rotated lineup for the match.
That could give Southampton a good chance, especially with Tyler Dibling finding his scoring boots. Playing as a striker seems to suit Dibling and Juric should let it remain this way in midweek.
Apart from him, a balanced midfield and a rock solid defence are required. After all, a reliable defence lays the foundation for securing a win.
The Old Trafford is all set, let's hope that Southampton take all three points home.
