Paris Saint-Germain expressed interest in Dean Huijsen last summer as part of a push to strengthen their back line. But the Spanish center-back ultimately joined AFC Bournemouth. If PSG circle back, they’ll have plenty of company.

Even with the arrival of Willian Pacho, PSG are expected to pursue another center-back, especially with Milan Skriniar likely to leave this summer.

According to a previous report from CaughtOffside, several top clubs — including Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Barcelona and PSG — have been keeping a close eye on the 20-year-old.

Huijsen has made a quick impression since arriving in the Premier League, emerging as one of Europe’s most highly rated young defenders. If PSG renew their interest, they’ll be facing stiff competition and a hefty price.

TEAMtalk recently reported that Liverpool are among the most serious suitors, viewing Huijsen as a potential long-term successor to Virgil van Dijk.

Are three Premier League teams willing to pay the release clause?

This weekend, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool are all in the mix to sign a Spanish center-back with a £50 million release clause. Romano also noted that Huijsen is weighing all options before making a decision.

Defensa Central recently reported that Real Madrid are interested in Huijsen, but the young center-back comes with a steep price tag. His release clause is set at €58 million, and the club is hesitant to spend that much on a defender.

According to the report, Madrid have told Huijsen’s camp that he is at the top of their list of potential signings. Still, they’re taking a wait-and-see approach and have no plans to move forward with a deal for now.
