Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis has revealed that a deal for the Italian side to sign Kevin De Bruyne has almost reached completion, and that the Belgian may have already bought a house in Naples.

Since De Bruyne announced his departure from Manchester City, multiple clubs have been vying for his signature, with teams from Saudi Arabia and the MLS particularly interested. But the 34-year-old believes he still has enough to give at the top level, and is set on joining the new Serie A champions.

De Laurentiis said: “Until it is all down on paper, you don’t announce something. We’re serious people. I know he’s already checked out a few things, or I even think he’s already bought a lovely place.

“This morning I was on a video call with him, his wife and his nine-year-old boy and it was a lovely sight; a lovely couple, actually a lovely triplet with the nine-year-old boy.”

The owner is not the only person to reveal how advanced a deal is, with sporting director Giovanni Manna also confirming it could be completed very soon: “Let’s say we’ve been working on it for a long time, we can see the finish line.

“We don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up, but we’re working in that direction. We hope to be able to give our fans a new player because the team deserves it too.”

Despite just winning the Scudetto to round off a brilliant first season in charge, manager Antonio Conte may not be at the helm next term. It is thought he may decide to part ways amicably with the club, with former Juventus and AC Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri in pole position to take the reins if that does happen.

However the managerial uncertainty seems to have not put off De Bruyne, and he is all set to begin the latest, and perhaps final chapter of a glittering career.
