Chelsea believe that under fire goalkeeper Robert Sanchez has actually won them a lot of points this season according to reports.
The Blues made the decision to go into the campaign with Sanchez as their number one despite a difficult first season, where he was arguably out performed by Djordje Petrovic.
Chelsea made the decision to sign Filip Jorgensen from Villarreal in the summer to compete with Sanchez, whilst Petrovic was surprisingly sent on loan to Strasbourg.
Sanchez has come under heavy criticism for his performances this season and has made a number of errors that have cost the Blues both goals and points, but Maresca has insisted he’s happy with him.
He was at fault for both goals conceded in the 4-2 win against Brighton, whilst he also conceded the penalty in Sunday’s draw against Manchester United with a rash challenge on Rasmus Hojlund.
Sanchez has come under fire for his performances this season.
Maresca has faced a lot of questions about Sanchez and recently admitted that Jorgensen wasn’t close to displacing him.
The Italian has suggested Sanchez is in the team for his ability on the ball, but his distribution has been poor this season and more often than not he’s plays it out of play or straight to the opposition, much to the frustration of the fans.
Despite calls for the Spain international to be replaced it feels that won’t happen anytime soon and GIVEMESPORT have reported that sources believe Sanchez has actually won the Blues a lot of points this season and cited games against Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest.

It’s true that Sanchez kept the Blues in those games and was the reason Chelsea beat The Cherries and didn’t lose to Forest, but it’s clear he’s become a liability between the sticks.
At this point it’s unclear what it will take for Maresca to replace Sanchez, but any costly mistakes against Arsenal on Sunday will see the pressure ramp up to make a decision.
