Kylian Mbappe has insisted his relationship with Vinicius Junior is good and that he can’t imagine Real Madrid without his teammate.

Mbappe’s arrival at Real Madrid has led to suggestions of a power struggle between the pair, as the two compete for main-man status at the Bernabeu.

After a mixed start, Mbappe has found his form and has netted 33 goals in all competitions so far this season. Vinicius finished as runner-up for the Ballon d’Or in 2024 but has been less explosive this time around, netting just 11 times in La Liga and 20 for the season overall.

Saudi Pro League sides are reportedly weighing up mammoth offers for Vinicius, but Mbappe has insisted there are no problems between the pair. He believes the duo can get better in tandem and said he can’t imagine playing for the Spanish side without Vinicius alongside him.

“The relationship [with Vini] is good,” Mbappé said in an interview on Spanish TV channel La Sexta.

“It’s normal that people want to talk about us, because we’re two famous players who can make a difference, but I came to Real Madrid with the idea of playing with Vini.

“I can’t imagine Madrid without Vini, I always had the idea of playing with him. We play well together. We can always do better, the fans always expect more of us and it’s normal, but I think we play well together and now at this stage of the season we’re going to try to help Madrid as much as we can.”

Mbappe and Vinicius will be key figures when Real Madrid take on Arsenal in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final this week.
