Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi has decided to bring Nicolo Barella into the starting eleven against Roma. This afternoon’s Serie A matchday 8 clash kicks off at 20.45 CET.

And Inter coach Simone Inzaghi has looked to put out more or less his strongest available starting eleven.

There was never any doubt that Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Hakan Calhanoglu would start. However, there were two midfielders vying for the third remaining spot in the trio – both Italian internationals.

Davide Frattesi started each of Inter’s last two matches prior to the international break. This was while Nicolo Barella was out with a thigh strain.

However, Barella returned to fitness during the international break.

Therefore, Barella is ready to make his return. And Inzaghi has decided to give the 27-year-old the nod this evening.

Lastly, in attack it’s the usual first-choice strike partnership. Therefore, Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram start for the Nerazzurri.

In terms of injuries, Inter are missing three players. Firstly, Tajon Buchanan is not quite ready to make his return from a long-term injury.

Meanwhile, both Piotr Zielinski and Kristjan Asllani miss this evening’s match through injury.
