Roma’s new stadium could become a reality by 2028, in time for the 2032 European Championships to be held in Italy and Turkey.

The intention was reiterated by the president of the Serie A League, Ezio Simonelli, during the elective assembly of the Football Federation that confirmed Gabriele Gravina as president. “

With Roma and FIFA president Infantino we had the opportunity to meet Mayor Gualtieri and we learned with joy that the Giallorossi will play their matches in the new stadium in 2028,” said Simonelli.

Roma also confirmed its desire to respect the timetable, with the aim of completing the facility by the 2028/29 season.

Present at the meeting with the mayor, which took place on the occasion of Roma-Napoli, Gianni Infantino expressed enthusiasm for the project: “It will be a spectacular facility.”

FIGC President Gravina also underlined the interest of several international investors: “Roma is well underway, the laying of the first stone must be guaranteed by March 2027.”

According to Il Messaggero, the cost of the work could reach 1.2 billion euros, a figure that does not worry president Dan Friedkin, who is evaluating the level of self-financing to be allocated to the project.

The plan includes not only the construction of the stadium, but also the creation of complementary infrastructures, including pedestrian bridges, parking lots and green areas open to the public.

The start of the works is awaiting the filing of the final version of the project in the Campidoglio, a fundamental step for the approval process and the subsequent operational phase.
