Southampton's Tyler Dibling will be sidelined for around a month.
Recently, Southampton boss Ivan Juric hinted that Tyler Dibling suffered an ankle injury against Manchester United. The latter looked in severe pain and couldn't continue for the remaining half an hour.
In an ideal world, Southampton must not be worrying about an 18-year-old getting sidelined. Furthermore, the Saints shouldn't be overly dependent on any single player.
Still, this is Southampton's reality amid an ongoing disastrous season.
The Saints have looked uninspiring up front despite a good attacking depth. As a result, the club has turned towards promising striker Tyler Dibling to save their Premier League campaign.
On the bright side, there is some good news for Southampton.
According to Daily Echo's senior reporter, Alfie House, Dibling could fully recover in around a month. In his own words, Alfie said: "Tyler Dibling likely to be out between four to six weeks."
When Dibling went down at the Old Trafford, it seemed that he could be sidelined for many months. Last month, Arsenal star Bukayo Saka also sustained an injury on his right leg and won't be back in action until March.
Dibling didn't pick any hamstring injury, though. Still, a leg injury is often serious and could take months to heal.
Thus, Southampton and Dibling are quite fortunate in that regard.
Still, a short-term attacking solution is needed to fill Dibling's void. Kamaldeen Sulemana isn't proven in the Premier League and Cornet has joined Genoa.
Talking about strikers, Archer hasn't played much recently. Furthermore, Ben Brereton Diaz's January exit also seems certain.
That being said, an elite striker should be on Southampton's winter shopping list. Brighton's Evan Ferguson is one such player that the Saints should explore.
Apart from that, Southampton could raid Ivan Juric's former club Torino for an attacker. After all, many Premier League clubs do it all the time.
Anyways, excitement stands sky high for the remaining weeks of the transfer window.
