Gareth Taylor says the attitude of his players has been ‘spot on’ after we rounded off a demanding fixture period with a 3-1 win over Leicester City.

Goals from Leila Ouahabi, Kerolin Nicoli and Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw earned the Blues passage to the FA Cup quarter-final draw, which takes place on Tuesday evening.

It was City’s second game in less than 72 hours and third in the space of seven days, following back-to-back clashes with Arsenal in the WSL and League Cup.

But the boss was delighted by his side’s approach to the game despite the swift turnaround from Thursday evening’s victory over the Gunners.

“The mood’s really good. The attitude, body language and behaviour of the players has been spot on,” he said.

“Whenever we’ve had a negative this season, and we’ve had a lot of really good moments, but being in the Champions League has put a big strain on the squad with the injuries we’ve had.

“But the reaction to a negative has been really good. We’ve proven that time and again.

“My fear today was we might be flat after putting so much energy into the Arsenal game, but fair play, the girls stood up to it and made sure we started really fast.”

City are aiming to win the FA Cup for the first time since 2020, having reached the last eight of the competition last season.

But with seven of the eight sides in the draw also compete in the top flight, Taylor insists there are no easy opponents at this stage in the FA Cup.

“I think there’s probably only one tie not involving a WSL team.

“Who knows, it would be nice to get a favourable draw, we’ve had some tough draws this season.

“Let’s see, the obvious candidates are out there."
