The last few days have been truly miserable for Real Madrid. The Merengues fell to a crushing defeat to their bitter rivals FC Barcelona in the last El Clasico. Carlo Ancelotti was counting on this defeat to bring the team out of its slumber, but the defeat to AC Milan last night has further intensified the crisis for the Spanish champions.

This 3-1 defeat to AC Milan can have significant impacts for Real Madrid. For one, Los Blancos will have to work very hard to progress to the next round of the UCL now. Similarly, this defeat has also brought about a greater sense of urgency at the Madrid club to bolster its team in January.

But this match will also have some more short-term implications for Real Madrid, as MARCA reports that one of their midfielders, Aurelien Tchouameni, sprained his ankle in this game. The Frenchman suffered this problem after a collision with Alvaro Morata, following which he fell to the ground in visible pain.

However, he continued to play till the end of the first half but did not return to the pitch for the second half. Real Madrid have already officially published the midfielder’s physical report, which went as:

“Following the tests carried out today on our player Aurélien Tchouameni by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a sprained left ankle. Pending evolution.”

Thus, things are getting even worse for Tchouameni, who has been far from his best version this season, and also received some boos from the Santiago Bernabeu faithful last night. The Frenchman’s mistakes were important factors in his team conceding the first two goals against AC Milan.

This injury is also a piece of bad news for Carlo Ancelotti, who relies a lot on the Frenchman for the midfield pivot role. But without him, the Italian will have the option of playing Eduardo Camavinga in this position.
